My mother was telling me how “back in the day” it was a long process to undertake in order to find the best auto insurance and home insurance rates available. You would and could spend hours on the phone, utilizing the local Yellow Pages to find a local agent and you would have to repeat all of your pertinent information over and over to several agencies trying to find the best bang for your buck.
These days the Internet can and does make this task a much easier one to tackle. They have sites like agentinsure.com that helps you compare insurance quotes from multiple carriers in a matter of minutes with no fees attached. You can’t get any better than that now can you? There are many insurance companies out there competing for your business so it’s nice to know that you can turn to the Internet to get auto insurance quotes and home insurance quotes provided by AgentInsure.
I’ve decided to give them a try and see if I can find a better deal on my car insurance. It shouldn’t take much since I only have the one vehicle and my driving record is unblemished at this point. I love my current agent but I’ve got to start cutting back on some of my monthly bills and if I can find a better deal some where else then I’ve got to do what I’ve got to do, right?
It is interesting to watch the 4 or 5 major insurance companies battle it out daily on our TVs. Each one slamming the others, each trying to out do the others and what they latch onto and bleed it until it dries out and we are screaming each time the damned commercial comes on for the 6 time in less than 2 hours.
As I stated the other day I have been checking out auto insurance via the Internet. It is the first time I’ve dealt with shopping around for quotes and coverages for car insurance. I’ve had my insurance with the same agent for a very long time and have never had to deal with looking around for cheap full coverage insurance by going online. When I found my agent we were all still using our local paper version of the Yellow Pages, was letting my fingers doing the walking. Remember that old line? I haven’t heard that expression for some time. I think they even had a song out back in the 70′s about the telephone man and letting your fingers do the walking. Might have to look that up on YouTube.com some time, it would be cool to hear that song after all these years.
Anyway I found another good site at cheap-autoinsurance.com. All I had to do was type in my zip code and 6 different insurance companies came up for me to check out. Nationwide being one of them (they are my current insurance company so of course I didn’t give them any information. Elephant Insurance was one of the choices. I have never heard of that company but decided to give them a shot, but wasn’t happy with the quote that they gave me.
Over the weekend I’ll try out some of the other ones that they have listed for me. Progressive is one of them as well as Geico, both being well established and well known insurance providers that might be able to beat Nationwide’s rates. I still hate the thought of leaving my current insurance agent. He has been wonderful to work with all these years and has helped me out of a few jams, which I thank him kindly for doing. But it’s all about the money at this point right? Guess we will see after I do a bit more research done, there is no hurry and no pressure. I like it like that.
I remember when insurance was basically about your vehicle, your health, your home and of course there has always been life insurance available. I don’t exactly know when they started specializing so heavily, but it is amazing how much in the industry has changed in the last 16 to 20 years or so.
I have a friend that moved to Australia late last year and is finding that a new life in a new country is becoming a challenge. He is finally settled in at his new job and found a nice place to move his family into and is now trying to stabilize things just a bit. He has been researching insurance needs and possibilities in the world “Down Under”.
We have been exchanging some interesting emails and links since he left America and I always find his emails interesting and entertaining. He has sent me links that offer accident cover policies, funeral cover policies, since he plans on staying there for the remainder of his and his wives lives and several other aspects of the insurance industry in his own surroundings. The only type of insurance that he isn’t looking into seems to be guardian income insurance, which he really shouldn’t have any use for, but one never knows in this day and age, right?
Knowledge is power and the Internet is a powerful tool for today’s consumers that is being taken more seriously these days. When I moved here my car insurance premiums went up and I remember complaining to my insurance agent about the rate increase. He informed me that I had moved into a different “territory” which they believe deserve charging a larger premium for. Now how crazy is that?
There has been a ton of commercials pushing insurance these past couple of years. The Internet allows you to research low cost car insurance without all the phone calls involved like back in the last century. (I’ve always wanted to say that) By going online you can find money saving auto ins tips with sites that help you compare coverages and rates. It’s certainly the most practical way of shopping for your insurance needs.
I found an interesting website that deals with low cost insurance issues at onlineautoinsurance.com. There is a lot of good information to read, links to all kinds of information related to insurance needs and concerns. I even watched one of their low income ins video online promotions that was worth watching, that is on YouTube.com.
I’ve decided that I’m going to start shopping around for a better deal on my car insurance. I hate to leave my current agent though. I used to work for him years ago and he always takes such good care of me, but if he can’t get my rates down I’ve gotta find some one else to do the job for me and there is plenty to choose from out there these days folks!
