I hate feeling left out of conversations about some of today’s high tech stuff that I just don’t know much about. I ran into a couple of friends today and we decided to grab some coffees at our local Starbucks, one of my favorite places to get a nice hot full flavored mocha, topped off with a big blob of whipped cream. Well, it seems that my friends are very high tech and their conversations were full of m&a deals, Hedge Funds, Life Sciences, legal translations and a bunch of other stuff about corporate high finance. I felt so bad sitting there sipping on my mocha and spending most of my time looking out the window and at the floor, like a big fat out of touch dummy.
I do remember them mentioning a merrill virtual data room and I jotted it down so that when I got home I could look it up online and see what in the heck the big to do is about. So after taking the time to look it up I’m still pretty much in the dark, I’m sad to say. I mean I’m no dummy, but somethings just are out of league and I’ve got to own up to that I guess. I’m glad that I ran into these folks but I can tell that we have pretty much grown apart and I most likely won’t be doing much socializing with them in the near future.
My oldest sister is always sending emails out to us with tips that she has found and has tried herself to be true. The latest one sounded a bit wacky but come to find out that it works. Instead of using expensive fabric softener in your washing machine or the dryer sheets to keep away the static cling that inevitably happens, you can use distilled white vinegar that will do the same thing. All you have to do is fill the place in your machine that holds the liquid fabric softener with the vinegar and let the machine run it’s normal course and you are good to go. It’s cheaper and better for the environment, both good reasons to switch.

I have run across several sites that offer Freebies, only to find out that most of the time there is a catch, which you don’t find out about until you have spent your valuable time answering pages and pages of questions, which really ends up ticking me off, big time. I don’t mind taking a few minutes and answering questions, I understand that is a major part of their marketing effort, but when it drags on for over 5 minutes and it looks like there is no end in sight, it just isn’t worth my time. I have found that it pays to read as much as you can before you start any process, especially the small, fine print. There are Free Products out there, you just have to know what to look for and keep your eyes wide open, soon you’ll be getting all kinds of goodies in your mailbox from time to time.
Free Product Samples are a great way to have people try your product in hopes that they will like it and then become a valued customer, hopefully for life. I used to love going to the Costco in town, when it first opened a few years ago. At both ends of each aisle there would be a person stationed there with Free Samples of all kinds of goodies that they were trying to promote that week. You could spend hours in there walking around, gazing at all of the items, sold in bulk, that they have at such good prices, if you have a place to keep all the stuff. And while you are walking around this huge store you can pig out on all of the Free Stuff being dished out that will keep your tummy happy and give you more energy to keep you in the store, in hopes of you buying more. It’s a good plan, one that works well for them time and time again.
I worry about my sister’s health more and more these days. She isn’t a “spring chicken” anymore as she is the oldest of my siblings. She is the type to do any thing that she can for others and put her needs and wants last. That was all find and well back in the day, but times have changed and I really want her to start doing more things for herself.
She has always wanted to use a tanning bed, so I’ve purchased a membership for her at the local saloon that has several of these tanning beds for folks to use. I was skeptical at first about her using one, but from what I’ve been reading that a tanning bed can assist with obtaining vitamin D, which we are all lacking these days.
Sis is a prime target for Osteoporosis and she needs all the calcium and vitamin D that she can get so that her bones will not get brittle and break easily, much like our Aunt’s are, due to Osteoporosis. We all got a scare a few years back with our Aunt Jessie, she fell and broke her wrist and had major issues with the healing process that took so very long to do. That is when we found out that she has Osteoporosis, it was a wake up call for us all since it can be genetic.
The current TV commercials for Jack in the Box have Jack, their main man, hurt and in the hospital. There is a whole series of vignettes about the accident, the ER, the hospital room, etc. that is cute and ends with a web site address: hangintherejack.com This is really clever marketing, and typical of the high caliber advertising campaigns run by Jack in the Box. In my opinion, the whole organization is top shelf. I go to Jack in the Box at least once a week for a breakfast burrito. They make theirs with sirloin steak and it’s a bargain.
Every once in while I have a craving for a great burger, and I’ll go to Jack in the Box for one of their sirloin burgers. They are huge and taste better than any other burger in the area with the exception of Backyard Burgers. McDonald’s is last on my list of fast food joints to eat at. Funny how I managed to eat there almost every single day as a teenager and early adult years and can’t even stand the smell of the place or their “food”. The only thing I will go to McDonald’s for is there $1 sweet tea and now a days they are making it so sweet it hurts my teeth.
