“Doctor Who” is a true classic of science fiction television. It has been on the air since 1963, making it the longest running science fiction show ever. There is a reason it has stayed on the air for so long–great story lines, amazing actors and memorable characters.

The Doctor is essentially a slightly mad alien with a time machine. He loves humanity and setting wrongs right. If you love a classic hero and tales of adventure then you will quickly fall in love with the Doctor.

Perhaps the greatest thing about “Doctor Who” is that the show has been designed so it can last forever. Both the Doctor’s companions and the Doctor himself are seamlessly recast and other altered to suit the times and current story arcs. If you never quite fell in love with David Tennant playing the Doctor, you can try again with Matt Smith’s version. Or, head back to the 1960′s and try an entirely different version of the same characters you know and love.

If you haven’t watched any of the “Doctor Who” serials, you should give it a chance. This is a show that has won the hearts of the British people for decades and has recently been captivating an international audience. You can now catch Doctor Who on BBC America or SyFy on Direct TV Georgia.

According to the new today is the first day of school for many of today’s students. We can now look forward to seeing all the big yellow school buses back on the roads again. I imagine that there are many parents are doing the “Back to School Happy Dance” this morning.  LOL

Yesterday was supposed to be in the 80′s so I was looking forward to spending the day doing outside activities, the flea market high on the list. Well once again the weatherman wasn’t even close on his forecast and we ended up in the mid 90′s. I still went to the flea market though. I feel so sorry for the vendors that are there on the black top in that kind of heat, it must be hell.

As I stated the other day I have been checking out auto insurance via the Internet. It is the first time I’ve dealt with shopping around for quotes and coverages for car insurance. I’ve had my insurance with the same agent for a very long time and have never had to deal with looking around for cheap full coverage insurance by going online. When I found my agent we were all still using our local paper version of the Yellow Pages, was letting my fingers doing the walking. Remember that old line? I haven’t heard that expression for some time. I think they even had a song out back in the 70′s about the telephone man and letting your fingers do the walking. Might have to look that up on YouTube.com some time, it would be cool to hear that song after all these years.

Anyway I found another good site at cheap-autoinsurance.com. All I had to do was type in my zip code and 6 different insurance companies came up for me to check out. Nationwide being one of them (they are my current insurance company so of course I didn’t give them any information. Elephant Insurance was one of the choices. I have never heard of that company but decided to give them a shot, but wasn’t happy with the quote that they gave me.

Over the weekend I’ll try out some of the other ones that they have listed for me. Progressive is one of them as well as Geico, both being well established and well known insurance providers that might be able to beat Nationwide’s rates. I still hate the thought of leaving my current insurance agent. He has been wonderful to work with all these years and has helped me out of a few jams, which I thank him kindly for doing. But it’s all about the money at this point right? Guess we will see after I do a bit more research done, there is no hurry and no pressure. I like it like that.

Had to go to the local Jiffy Lube during lunch today and have them throw an oil change on my car. Thank goodness they got me in and out quickly, I even had enough time to grab a bit to eat before heading back to work. Lunch breaks are never quite long enough to get things done and something in the stomach to keep you going until you clock out.
