Thanks for the post from Rashad Townsend
I was at a garage sale this morning and they had a huge collection of VHS tapes for .50 each! They had some of my all-time favorites, too! In the end, I decided not too because I don’t even have a VHS player, so how would I watch them? It was tough to pass them up, though. Does anyone still have a VHS player, or even watch VHS tapes, or is that a thing of the past? It kind of reminds me of a tape player; everyone uses CD’s now. All I ever see in stores is DVDs for movies, so I’m guessing VHS tapes are done. It was too bad, though, because like I said, that garage sale had an amazing collection. I have heard of some machines that convert VHS to DVD, but I don’t have one of those, and it’d probably be more money than it would be to just go buy the DVD. I actually have Direct TV in Berkeley, so I usually just watch movies On Demand at home.
My oldest sister has always looked after me, she has been more like a mother to me than my own mother. I remember telling (or yelling at) my real mother that back when I was 15 and it upset my mother so bad that she sent me up to my room and put me on restriction for two weeks. But a fact is a fact and nothing can change the truth. I still look towards my sister for just about everything, we text each other almost every day, use the Yahoo Instant Messenger, Facebook posts and chats as well as our cell phones help us keep in constant contact and communication with each other.
My sister has taught me the value of looking before you leap concept in so many areas in life. I remember her telling me in my teen years that if it sounds too good to be true that it usually is too good to be true, a saying that proves to be so true time after time after time. She is also the responsible for getting me into personal computers back in the 80′s when they were first being sold to the general public. Our first computers were Macintosh, I have always had a soft spot for Mac’s since then but had to move over to the IBM one and their clones because the majority of places that I worked at didn’t use Mac’s so it became such a challenge that I finally had to give up my Mac while she still buys from Apple exclusively.
Last Christmas we made a good team finding good gift ideas for everyone on our shopping lists and then hunting around finding the best deal possible, online of course and getting the best bang for our bucks. I had heard of a site that has great products for sale at nomorerack.com and before I turned my sister onto it I took a few minutes to find and read nomorerack reviews as well as Googled “nomorerack scam” to make sure that this was a reliable company to deal with. It really would have sucked to be swindled during the holiday season, something that I can’t even imagine happening but certainly hear stories each year confirming that it does indeed happen, all to frequently, sigh…..
Anyway – nomorerack.com turned out to be a great site that helped us find a good amount of our gifts at affordable prices and Christmas went off without a hitch. My sister and I bought computer web cams for each other so that now we can actually see each other when we want to. Since she moved to San Diego I don’t get to see her as often as I would like. Sisters were not meant to be separated by such long distances but at least today’s technology gives us a lot of options to keep in touch.
I’ve heard that there are companies out there that are willing to pay you to blog. This is something that I’d be interested in finding more information about. Not sure how many companies are offering compensation for blogging but I’ll keep you posted on my progress!
This Christmas really worked out great by doing all of my shopping via the Internet. It made it so easy to come up with great gift ideas for Christmas without ever having to leave the house. The time and money that I saved was monumental and I can’t wait to see how it all works out come next Christmas. I really love saving time, time is money after all.
When I first moved into my new home, it was cable ready, but I knew from the start that I would prefer to subscribe to a satellite company instead, which I switched to immediately after all of the final paperwork was signed, and everything said and done, in the closing of the house. For the most part I have been happy with satellite, it has been just recently that I noticed an increase on my monthly bill and due to a lot of the high winds that we have been experiencing here, I have lost our signal a whole lot more than usual.
The main issue I have right now is the selection on movies that they have to offer as of late, on their Pay Per View Movies, the last couple of times that I have wanted to just kick back and order a movie just by clicking a few buttons on the remote, their hasn’t been much of a selection that I find appealing enough to order.
Flannel sheets. I’ve always wanted flannel sheets and I really could use a new look for my bedroom. So a new bedspread, a nice soft blanket and some new accent pillows would be a nice Christmas present for myself one that I could purchase now and have ready for the holiday season.
Next month I will be free and clear with my current cell phone provider. I’ve been stuck in a two year contract that I wish that I had never committed to and can’t wait to get out from under Verizon’s thumb once and for all. I’ve got some researching to do in order to find myself a sweet deal to sign up with.
Thought that I would be smart and hit a couple of stores at the mall tonight on my way home tonight, thinking that it wouldn’t be crowded on a Wednesday evening. The crowds were minimal but what got me was the lack of customer service that I received tonight and that really irks me. To make matters worse the one store that I wanted to purchase three separate items from was having issues with their POS system so I had to put back 2 of the items since I didn’t have enough cash on me to be able to pay for all of them. It’s terrible how we all rely so much on these plastic cards these days and how lost we are without the use of them.
