Well after the major leak last month with the water heater, I have noticed that the carpets smell and even having them cleaned has not helped. I am very sensitive to smells and it just won’t go away. So I am going to pull them up, but I can’t decide if I want carpeting again or wood floors.
On one hand, I love the carpets in the winter because you can’t feel the cold floor. However, wood floors are easier to keep clean and in the event of some kind of flooding like before, they are easier to dry. Of course, then I can get some throw rugs to have around that will compliment my different rooms and look really good. So the entire floor wouldn’t be bare at all.
If I go with the wood, and it looks like I probably will, I have to decide if I want a traditional wood floor or squares. Should I do it myself or have someone else put it in? From what I understand they are not difficult to put in and my brother says he will help if I decide to go that route. I will have to decide soon because I cannot take the smell of mildew any longer.
So, my water heater has sprung a huge leak, and everything was wet when I got home. Just what I needed when I got home from work. Ugh !
I was able to shut off the water to the heater without any problems, but now I have a ginormous mess to clean up, as well as needing to replace my water heater. This totally sucks, especially since it is going to cut into my savings to fix it. Oh and I cannot shower until it is fixed. I guess I’ll be ordering take out for dinner and I have to call a plumber in the morning to come fix it.
I am looking online to call places, but if they come out other than 9 to 5, it is super expensive, If I wait till they have an open appointment it is much less. The problem with that is that I will have no hot water for a few days and when they finally come I will have to take off work for them to get in and fix it.
It is really busy at work right now, so my boss will not be happy at all if I have to take a day off. I’ll ask for a meeting with him tomorrow and see if I can make up the time lost by staying late or coming in on Saturday so I don’t fall behind.
When I first moved into my new home, it was cable ready, but I knew from the start that I would prefer to subscribe to a satellite company instead, which I switched to immediately after all of the final paperwork was signed, and everything said and done, in the closing of the house. For the most part I have been happy with satellite, it has been just recently that I noticed an increase on my monthly bill and due to a lot of the high winds that we have been experiencing here, I have lost our signal a whole lot more than usual.
The main issue I have right now is the selection on movies that they have to offer as of late, on their Pay Per View Movies, the last couple of times that I have wanted to just kick back and order a movie just by clicking a few buttons on the remote, their hasn’t been much of a selection that I find appealing enough to order.
Being the avid golf fan, the past time has become a weekend ritual for myself and son. Each Saturday we head out to our favorite greens, the Gaylord Opryland Resort Golf Course,Gaylord Springs. It is such a great place to get in a terrific game of golf, and during the last several years of my playing, those sharing their love of golf have became great aquaintances.
My wife does volunteer work each weekend, so she is always hassling me to remember to set the security choice alarm before I walk out the door. Once this is done, I am lost in my world of golf for the remainder of the day. She always love to hear my stories of the great game I played today!
My game gets better with every weekend that I am out there playing. Although most say no, I still think I could be as good as Tiger Woods one day. The golf course at Gaylord Springs is 18 holes, with a clubhouse that wil take your breath away. I think playing there will help me play like him one day.
It feels pretty weird to get someone that you love and care about a birthday present that you don’t even have a clue as to what it is. I have talked about my geeky younger brother who has turned out to be the family computer whiz that we all turn to with our computer problems these past couple of years. I swear I don’t know why he has decided not to make this his full time job instead of just piddling around with it and assisting the friends and families that utilize his skills and knowledge for free. I understand that he loves his full time job, but he certainly isn’t getting rich by running the local gas station that he has been managing for the past 10 years or so.
All he wants for his birthday is computer related products and I have agreed to purchase the push 2 at guitarcenter.com for him since it was the last thing on his wish list that he emailed everyone, which is what our family has been doing these past couple of years when it comes to gift giving occasions. That way we all know who wants what and we can communicate so easily with emails. Who would have thought, ten years ago that we would be relying so heavily on the Internet to keep in touch with each other?
