My sister just recently informed me that I could be using Distilled White Vinegar instead of liquid fabric softener in my washing machine. I tried it and darned if she wasn’t right, no lingering vinegar smell, no chemicals and no static. Thanks for the money saving tip Sis!

Since this up and coming weekend is the official Labor Day long weekend, there will be a good amount of sales going on so I intend to do some early Christmas shopping. I know it is early but Christmas will be here before we know it and I want to be prepared for this year’s holiday and not get hit in my wallet all at once.

I do most of my shopping online these days. It is much easier than going out and dealing with the general public and all the hassles that go along with that hassle. I can find some really sweet deals online, with free shipping that always helps defray some of the costs. And sites that accept Pay Pal are a real plus.

My mother has been dropping hints that she would like to have some new Window Box Planters. So I have been doing some research on the Internet to find the perfect Window Box Planter for her. She has always had a green thumb (I certainly didn’t get any of her green thumb talents) and she has several Decorative Planters around the house but now she wants to be able to get into some nice Outdoor Planters this up and coming planting season.

Watching the Redskins get their butts whooped the other night was a disappointment. I’ve always rooted for the Washington Redskins and try and follow their games when I can. Saturday’s game was just a pre season game but it still sucks to see them lose and so badly at that! I’m glad that I subscribe to Direct TV. I have the NFL Sunday Ticket package and am looking forward to an awesome football season that is getting geared up to start here real soon.

When I moved in here I went online and researched the local tv satellite options and and glad that I went with Direct TV. I found the information out at www.localtv-satellite.com. So far they have provided me with good deals and the reception has been very good since day one. Not at all like the cable that was used to for all those years before I landed here. Going to localtv-satellite.com was a smart move on my part. The Internet has been a valuable tool for me since moving here. I lost connection for about 4 hours earlier today and was starting to get worried not knowing when it would come back on again.

Life tends to come to a screeching halt when something goes wrong with the Internet.

I have always enjoyed the look of a house that has window boxes for plants and/or window boxes for flowers, especially the ones that actually are being used and tended to and are full of lively plants and flowers. The house that I grew up in had flower boxes galore around the place. My mother took it upon herself to make our house and our yard as nice looking and homey as possible. When ever I drive by the old house I keep expecting to see those flower boxes and am always depressed to see that they have been long gone and forgotten by newer owners and/or tenants.

The city does a good job keeping up with the flower boxes that have in Old Town. With this horrible heat wave that we have been experiencing this summer, I’m sure it hasn’t been an easy task keeping things from severly suffering from the and looking as good as they do. I’m impressed. My city taxes are hard at work there folks! The roads suck but the planters look great!  LOL

You would have to be living under a rock some where in the desert not to know that being “Green” is the buzz word these days. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for it. My parents were from the 70′s (the hippie days) and were very much in tune with environmental issues. So they raised us kids to be in tune with Mother Earth as much as possible. Recycling has always been a big issue then and it still is. I drive people crazy with my recycling issues, but that’s OK. I just want my kids, my grandchildren and their kids to have trees and clean water and clean air to breath well after I’m dead and gone.

So I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised to find that website hosting is doing what they can do in order to become as “Green” as possible. Web Hosting by FatCow is now powered by 100% wind energy. Isn’t that awesome? I understand that several other web site hostings are going green, so I wanted to put the word out to look for a website hosting that is participating in this type of change. Change can be good.
