Knowledge is power and the Internet is a powerful tool for today’s consumers that is being taken more seriously these days. When I moved here my car insurance premiums went up and I remember complaining to my insurance agent about the rate increase. He informed me that I had moved into a different “territory” which they believe deserve charging a larger premium for. Now how crazy is that?

There has been a ton of commercials pushing insurance these past couple of years. The Internet allows you to research low cost car insurance without all the phone calls involved like back in the last century. (I’ve always wanted to say that) By going online you can find money saving auto ins tips with sites that help you compare coverages and rates. It’s certainly the most practical way of shopping for your insurance needs.

I understand California has a lot of ways to help people that can’t afford auto insurance. I think that is pretty awesome. I wish more states would follow that trend. With all of the traffic issues that California has to deal with and their major budget problems I’m really surprised that they have programs as they do to help people.

I found an interesting website that deals with low cost insurance issues at onlineautoinsurance.com. There is a lot of good information to read, links to all kinds of information related to insurance needs and concerns. I even watched one of their low income ins video online promotions that was worth watching, that is on YouTube.com.

I’ve decided that I’m going to start shopping around for a better deal on my car insurance. I hate to leave my current agent though. I used to work for him years ago and he always takes such good care of me, but if he can’t get my rates down I’ve gotta find some one else to do the job for me and there is plenty to choose from out there these days folks!

My closest cousin, who lives in Fort Worth, is considering having a home security system installed in her newly purchased home. There has been a rash of home break ins the last year and she is getting a bit nervous. We are all hearing how the declining economy is making people turn to desperate measures and robberies are a desperate measure for a lot of folks. Drug and alcohol abuse is on the rise due to the stress of this economic mess that our government has gotten us all into. We are all just a mess these days.

She has joined their local neighborhood watch and gotten to know some their neighbors a bit better. They have two large dogs that have been making them feel a bit better but the situation has declined so much that they are a bit leary with leaving it all up to the dogs. The neighborhood watch have a good relationship with the Fort Worth, PD and they have provided all the members with police security tips to review, and utilize which is a good idea. But she is still worried and in the market for a good quality but affordable home security system. She has reviewed the website of homesecurityteam.com which is the ADT Home Security System Authorized Dealers site. ADT is a repitable company and has some good packages to choose from. My cousin tells me that they have 130 years experience is the security business. There is something to be said about a company that has been around for that long.

Going through the process of a debt consolidation can make a drastic difference in the monthly payments that you find are due each and every month, time after time and seemingly to be never ending and are overwhelming a good amount of people these days. This depression isn’t letting up one bit for any one that I know or am related to. People are still losing their houses and properties. Jobs are still scarce, crime is rising, home invasions & robbery are happening big time with people getting so desperate for money. The old saying that money is the route to all evil sure comes to my mind a lot lately.

It’s good that we have credit counseling and debt consolidation options available to us to help in times like this. I’m going to check into a debt consolidation and see what they have to offer. My credit is not in the best light right now so I’m curious to see what a bad credit rating will bring about in the quote.

Right now I figure that I’m $7,500 in credit card debit. I’d really like to get those numbers way down. Two of my current credit cards are charging me 29.9% interest, that is just nuts. I’ve called all of my creditors and asked for the interest rate to be lowered to no avail. That was a waste of time and effort, not that I had any faith in any of them doing anything about it. It’s just that all the specialists say that that is one of the first things to do on a lengthy list of to dos when dealing with credit card injustices.

I’ll keep you posted on what I find out.

It’s true that it takes money to make money. I know several people that are getting into the Online Trading and the Online Broker business and are fairing quite well, so far. I myself don’t know a darn thing about IRA Accounts or Mobile Trading, but would love to know more about them.

I know that the Internet would be a useful tool in learning about these financial opportunities, but I think that the writings would be so dry and filled so many long million dollar words that I’d lose interest in just a few short minutes of reading. So I’d prefer to learn by someone explaining and or showing me first hand. I mean I do know a bit about Stock Trading, I just would like to know more of a variety of what I’ve managed to find out just from watching TV, reading the newspaper and listening to the local news programs all my life. They certainly didn’t teach us anything about this type of stuff back in high school although I’m sure that they have classes in the subject now a days.

Maybe I’ll call one of friends that is knowledable about such things and we will do lunch or dinner together and I can pick her brain on the subject while we eat. You are never too old to learn, as they say!

(Whoever wrote this one deserves a HUGE pat on the back!)

Like most folks in this country, I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to get that paycheck in my case, I am required to pass a random urine test (with which I have no problem). What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don’t have to pass a urine test.

So, here is my Question: Shouldn’t one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them?

Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their ass – doing drugs, while I work. . . . Can you imagine how much money each state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check?

I guess we could title that program, ‘Urine or You’re Out’.

The Mesothelioma Cancer issue is becoming more well known, partly because of the commercials that we are seeing from the Lawyer community advertising their specialty with Mesothelioma. The Internet is also making the awareness of this cancer more well known as well.

There is even a good Surviving Mesothelioma website that I ran across the other evening that offers a free copy of the book “Surviving Mesothelioma” written by Paul Kraus, who was diagnosed with this type of cancer and given only a few short months to live. Twelve years later he is still alive and kicking and is offering his advise and knowledge of this disease in this book.

I’ve only known one person that has had to deal with Mesothelioma. He was exposed to this cancer while serving in the Navy. He was diagnosed in the early stages and so far he has done well with it, but it has taken it’s toll on him, his life, his family, his work, the list just keeps getting longer. I also know that he got an attorney right from the get go and his wife is very active and knowledgeable with his health issues and all the paperwork that goes along with the whole ordeal. Guess I’ll have to try and give him a call and see how he is doing. It’s been a couple of years by now, so it’s been too long not to have touched based with him. There is no time like the present!

There are more people selling things in order to bring in extra money that is needed so badly by most of us, along with more people attending these bargain centers in an effort to get good deals with their hard earned money.

This economy is lighting up as far as I (or anyone else) can tell. Although I’m hearing that more people are planning on going away for the Memorial Day weekend this year. It must be all the people that work for the banks and mortgage companies that got all of the “bail out monies” from our new president.
