Had to go to the local Jiffy Lube during lunch yesterday and have them throw an oil change on my car. Thank goodness they got me in and out quickly, I even had enough time to grab a bit to eat before heading back to work. Lunch breaks are never quite long enough to get things done and something in the stomach to keep you going until you clock out.

It really irks me that each and every store that I shop at has a plastic card to issue you “in order to give you discount prices” we all know that they are using the information that is scanned on that piece of plastic for marketing reasons. I hate that my wallet is so jammed packed with all these plastic cards and not with hard cash. Why don’t they just offer cheaper prices and get on with it?

I have always hated the plastic bags that retail has been forcing us to use for most of our purchases. I’m so glad that there is such a push for folks to purchase the reusable cloth bags. I really like it when you can find one that is made of recycled items. Just these small things will make a big difference in the whole scheme of things.

I understand that some places are making these plastic bags against the law for stores to use and some places have even started folks 5 cents per bag right at the cash register. What a hassle, but I really think that it is a step in the right direction. It isn’t easy being green, as Kermit The Frog was so well known for singing about.

I’m so grateful for Hamburger Helper. They have really come out with a great variety of flavors to pick from. They even have Tuna Helper and Chicken Helper these days. Making dinner can’t get much easier than using one of their products. The fact that they are inexpensive is a major plus. I find them on sale for $1 a box and stock up and I’m good to go!

My folks came over for dinner and some card playing, something that we try to do every month or so. It seems the everyone is into trivia these days and my parents are no different. For some reason they were discussing people’s faces and they informed me that people’s ears never stop growing. That is reason that so many old people appear to have such large ears. The other face part that was being discussed what the issue that people’s eyes are the only parts of the body that never grow once being born. Guess I learned two things today. Don’t know what I am going to do with that information but I’ve got it stored away in case I need it some day.

I’m so glad to see that Burger King finally figured out that they were losing business to McDonald’s because you can buy a large sweet iced tea at McDonald’s for only one dollar, with free refills mind you. I drove by our local Burger King today and see that they are now selling their large sweet iced tea for $1 as well!

The Comedy Channel is on most of the time these days. I’m a firm believer of laughter being the best medicine and with this god awful heat that we have been experiencing each and every day, over and over again, we could use a good dose of some mighty fine medicine, along with a nice cold beer!

One of my favorite shows to watch on The Comedy Channel is Josh.O. This dude just continues to crack me up and he is easy on the eyes as well.

Last night I had the munchies, big time, but was too lazy to fix anything extravagant, so I figured a nice bag of popcorn with lots of butter and salt, and a nice tall glass of ice cold milk would to the trick nicely. I got a cold glass out of the freezer and filled it to the brim with milk and placed it back into the freezer to become extra cold and placed a bag of microwave popcorn in my old reliable microwave and next thing you know I smelled something burning, and it didn’t smell like popcorn.I was in the other room tending to the needs of a few of my critters when I first smelled it, so I went running into the kitchen with all of the critters at my heels right behind me, in what they must have thought was a racing game. Upon entering the kitchen I found that the microwave was on fire and smoking like crazy and creating the most horrible stench. I got the fire out pretty quickly, it hadn’t amounted to much, but it is now totally100%  ruined and now I need to find a new one.

Of course my popcorn was ruined, but my milk was nice and cold and tasted great with some chocolate doughnuts that I had in the cupboard. Now I am going to need to find a replacement for my burnt up, old worthless little microwave. Oh well, the next one will just have to be bigger and better.
