I have direct tv at home and I watch a lot more TV than I’d probably like to admit. I really love everything on TBS mostly because it’s reruns and a lot of the best movies from when I was growing up. I like Friends a lot and Sex and the City, both of which they air a lot, but they also do all kinds of great comedies like The Hangover and also pretty much every movie Cameron Diazhas ever been in. I love watching TV in the afternoons when I get home from my night shift and wake up from my long nap and you know, that’s the best way I can think of to let off steam and get the break I need from the day. I don’t know why so many people like to go on runs or play with the dog – if you asked me what I’d like to be doing at any given moment it would be watching something on TV! That’s the truth!

Not doing anything special for New Year’s Eve this year. I haven’t really felt like going out on New Year’s Eve for the past few years. There are way too many drunks out on the road and I’m just not ready to chance it. I used to watch Dick Clark each year but he isn’t even making appearances these days, although his name is still being used to promote the show, sigh….

All of the hard work and rushing around paid off for this year’s Christmas with the family. My favorite gift today were the yoga mats that my brother and his new bride picked out for me. They knew what I wanted and made sure that I got exactly that. They enjoyed the video camera that I gave to them as well. It works out so much better when you communicate and get people things that really want and/or need instead of some crappy generic gift that will most likely be re-gifted at the first opportunity.

I have a very large family due to deaths, divorces, and remarriages. I have two sisters and five brothers who’ve pretty much all married and had kids. So I have a lot of nieces, nephews, and cousins to consider as family members!

I’m married, so I have in-laws as my extended family!

And, for some reason, my family looks to me to keep track of who has what special occasion when. So for several years now at the beginning of a month I email out reminders as to who is having what special occasion that month.

In addition, I send out via the US mail greetings to mark those occasions. You can imagine that I send out a lot of birthday cards during the year!

I never knew that there was a tobacco store in the town next to ours. I’m so glad to find some where that I can find cigar accessories, a place that has a good selection of a variety of cigar accessories. I always buy my uncle a nice box of cigars for Christmas and am always looking for new interesting cigar and cigar related products and there has been a place right under my nose. So I know where I’m going to stop in next week when I’m in that part of town for my eye doctor’s appointment and check out.

The way that they are constantly changing the names of countries it would be hard to keep up with the job of being a mapmaker these days. But I guess that it would be good job security though. I am pretty familiar with the globe and what is where, and who belongs to who, but sometimes I’m really thrown for a loop about some places. This time stemming from a conversation at work with a buddy who is planning a unique vacation for his family this summer vacation season. He has had enough of Disney World and the typical family style get-a-ways that they have fallen into the routine of, so he has gone online and has spent a good amount of time researching to come up with The Great British Holiday at Butlins Minehead.

Yesterday turned out to be a pleasant enough day outside.  I got to enjoy it in many parking lots, walking from my car into the stores and back again.  My son joined me and we managed to spend some good one on one time with each other, he got use some of his gift certificates that he got for his birthday last week and we even stopped at the park so he got to play on the new playground equipment for a good while. I sat at the newly installed Picnic Tables, which are a bit more comfortable then the hard Park Benches that have been there for way too long and I got to read a little more of my book and he got to use up some energy on the playground.

It is supposed to be unusually warm this up coming week, but cloudy and rainy, but that is O.K. we really need the rain and it is better than being freezing cold and snowing!  I a so ready for spring, I am not a winter loving person at all.

I am looking forward to spring so that hubby and I can start preparing our veggie garden out in the backyard again.  Last year wasn’t the greatest, we learned a lot from it and hope that we will do much better and that our harvest will much more plentiful.  My favorite was the cantaloupes, they take up a lot of space in the garden, but if we do it right this year it will be wonderful.

Something that I have always had fun doing is reading what the Top 100 Baby Girl Names and Top 100 Baby Boy Names are for the year. Some names seem to always be in the top 20 or so I’ve noticed and they are usually very religious based names at that, not surprising really, considering we are basically a God fearing nation. A co-worker is expecting her first baby and we are putting together a baby shower which we are hoping will be a surprise, if certain people can keep their mouths closed, which can be a challenge for a work place full of females that have worked together for years and years. But I do love it there and we have fun.

I figured that I would go online and shop around for a baby gift when I stumbled on to a site with a lot of good gift ideas that I had a blast looking at, and I spent more time on the site than I thought I would have but I get such a kick out of all of the gadgets that they have now a days and I get lost in it all.

Of course like all websites, there are other links to tempt you and this one is no different and that is how I got on the subject of the top 100 names as I was alluding to earlier. I have to admit that the lists are not much different than the year(s) before but I find myself still looking at them all these years for some reason.
