I was at a garage sale this morning and they had a huge collection of VHS tapes for .50 each! They had some of my all-time favorites, too! In the end, I decided not too because I don’t even have a VHS player, so how would I watch them? It was tough to pass them up, though. Does anyone still have a VHS player, or even watch VHS tapes, or is that a thing of the past? It kind of reminds me of a tape player; everyone uses CD’s now. All I ever see in stores is DVDs for movies, so I’m guessing VHS tapes are done. It was too bad, though, because like I said, that garage sale had an amazing collection. I have heard of some machines that convert VHS to DVD, but I don’t have one of those, and it’d probably be more money than it would be to just go buy the DVD. I actually have Direct TV in Berkeley, so I usually just watch movies On Demand at home.
Only a few more months and hopefully I will be sitting in the not warm sun over at my sister’s house enjoying their new pool. And what a nice pool this is, they did good on this one, I have to give them that. They got a great deal on their “dream pool” that has all the perks you can think of. My favorite part is the heated spa area which is semi attached to the regular pool. Another great feature is the automatic pool cover which will save them a lot of time, energy and aggravation for many years to come. There is a lot to having a pool, so glad they will deal with all of that while get to kick back and just enjoy it all.
All they need now is some great patio furniture. Now that Christmas is over and done with we are all keeping our eyes and ears open for a good deal on some to pass along to them. I hope they realize just how much the rest of the family is excited about the pool and how much time they will be spending there. It’s a good thing we all get along so well, so it should be a hoot!
Something that I haven’t seen in so long are the paper dolls that were so popular back in the day before computers. I remember about 15 years ago I was going over to babysit my niece so I stopped off at Toys R Us and I bought my niece, who was about 7 or 8 at the time, some paper dolls thinking it would be a fun thing for the two of us to do that afternoon. She wasn’t impressed, nor was I. What a pain in the rear they turned out to be. It was a real struggle to get the things punched out, most of them ended up torn and bent up and the darn clothes wouldn’t stay on the paper dolls worth a darn, so we ended up trashing those after 20 minutes of frustration.
Now a days they have so many cool virtual girl games to offer young girls that make the old fashioned paper dolls really look out dated and boring. The computer makes the whole process less tedious and totally more exciting and I can see why the market has dropped out of the paper doll industry. It took a while for them to figure out that the need for more virtual girl games were a big issue and we are finally seeing a good amount of virtual girl games coming out and the girls are just eating them up as fast as they can produce them.
One of my favorite places to visit is North Carolina and since my best friend lives down there I get a few opportunities a year to go down there for fun filled visits with her and her family. Her parents are are currently checking out various outer banks real estate for sale and I really, really hope that they really do take the plunge and buy some property in that wonderful area. What fun we could have there. I love the water and I know that I would have an open invitation there whenever I wanted to come and enjoy all that it has to offer.
I love Reader’s Digest magazine. My mother always had the latest edition in the bathroom in the house that we grew up in, and that is what turned me onto reading as a kid.
The jokes are usually good, the stories interesting and nothing took a lot of time to read. A quick fix in a room that we hopefully didn’t have to spend a long time sitting in!
I should have asked for a subscription for Christmas.
Playing any kind of musical instrument has never come easy for. I took piano and guitar lessons as a kid, but never really amounted to anything and now that I am older I really wish that I had tried harder and kept up with those lessons. For Christmas my Dad bought me a real cool hohner harmonica and a nice neck holder to go along with it as well. I was puzzled as to why he picked something like out for me and asked him why and never did get a straight answer out of him. But I have picked it up a few times and played around with it and now am interested in learning how to really play the darn thing.
I’m told that you can find lessons online, so that will be my mission for the weekend. I plan on staying inside since the weather is supposed to be cold and nasty and I don’t want anything to do with any of that. So with my fireplace going and my Internet I’ll be good to go for the entire time.
YouTube is full of funny videos featuring little old ladies. I wish the quality of this one was better, but it is still a good funny old lady video that deserves being posted here today. My sister sent me this one along with a few other little old lady videos that she had a good laugh at. This one is my favorite.
When I first moved into my new home, it was cable ready, but I knew from the start that I would prefer to subscribe to a satellite company instead, which I switched to immediately after all of the final paperwork was signed, and everything said and done, in the closing of the house. For the most part I have been happy with satellite, it has been just recently that I noticed an increase on my monthly bill and due to a lot of the high winds that we have been experiencing here, I have lost our signal a whole lot more than usual.
The main issue I have right now is the selection on movies that they have to offer as of late, on their Pay Per View Movies, the last couple of times that I have wanted to just kick back and order a movie just by clicking a few buttons on the remote, their hasn’t been much of a selection that I find appealing enough to order.
