Well after the major leak last month with the water heater, I have noticed that the carpets smell and even having them cleaned has not helped. I am very sensitive to smells and it just won’t go away. So I am going to pull them up, but I can’t decide if I want carpeting again or wood floors.
On one hand, I love the carpets in the winter because you can’t feel the cold floor. However, wood floors are easier to keep clean and in the event of some kind of flooding like before, they are easier to dry. Of course, then I can get some throw rugs to have around that will compliment my different rooms and look really good. So the entire floor wouldn’t be bare at all.
If I go with the wood, and it looks like I probably will, I have to decide if I want a traditional wood floor or squares. Should I do it myself or have someone else put it in? From what I understand they are not difficult to put in and my brother says he will help if I decide to go that route. I will have to decide soon because I cannot take the smell of mildew any longer.
So, my water heater has sprung a huge leak, and everything was wet when I got home. Just what I needed when I got home from work. Ugh !
I was able to shut off the water to the heater without any problems, but now I have a ginormous mess to clean up, as well as needing to replace my water heater. This totally sucks, especially since it is going to cut into my savings to fix it. Oh and I cannot shower until it is fixed. I guess I’ll be ordering take out for dinner and I have to call a plumber in the morning to come fix it.
I am looking online to call places, but if they come out other than 9 to 5, it is super expensive, If I wait till they have an open appointment it is much less. The problem with that is that I will have no hot water for a few days and when they finally come I will have to take off work for them to get in and fix it.
It is really busy at work right now, so my boss will not be happy at all if I have to take a day off. I’ll ask for a meeting with him tomorrow and see if I can make up the time lost by staying late or coming in on Saturday so I don’t fall behind.
I love having my vacation come up during the winter time. It gives me the perfect excuse to head for warmer climes with beaches and cabana boys. Okay – maybe not the cabana boys, but seriously, who doesn’t like to look at least?
This year my trip is to the Florida Keys. I made my decision to go there after watching a food network show on cable TV called “Drive ins, Diners and Dives.” The host of the show goes from place to place, finding the best food to be had and showcasing the house specialties.
The places he found from Miami to Key West looked amazing, so I am basing my vacation on a tour of awesome food and beaches. There is a restaurant in Miami I HAVE to try, so that is where I will start.
I am going to rent a car and then drive from Miami to Key West. Sampling food, cocktails and beaches along the way. No I won’t drink and drive, I plan to stop a motels and just travel leisurely down there even though it is only a four hour drive. I just might go deep sea fishing while I am there, as well. We shall see!
Saturday we had a shopping trip for my group of friends that I haven’t had time for in so very long. With life as crazy as it has been over the holidays, now that the new year is here it is time for us to get together, and some of us had Christmas gift cards that were burning a hole in our wallets. So, we decided to meet at the mall at ten a.m. so we could get in some shopping before lunch.
We hit Macy’s and a few of the big names before we decided to go to some of the smaller stores, including Victoria’s Secret. All women’s favorite for those unmentionables. I splurged on a new leather jacket at Wilson’s, and I bought a couple of new outfits for myself at Macy’s. We had a lot of fun shopping together.
We decided on lunch at a regular restaurant rather than the food court and The Cheesecake Factory won out of course. It was a great lunch with lots of laughs and plenty of gossip. Not wanting our outing to end already, we decided to take in a matinee, but unfortunately we couldn’t decide on a movie since they were all action or kids movies – with the exception of one that no one was interested in. We ended up calling it a day, but still had a blast none the less.
You would have to be blind not to see and appreciate this Gibson 2015 Les Paul Deluxe Electric Guitar that I have been eyeballing for some time now. This not only looks fabulous but sounds awesome as well.
I should know, I have actually had the opportunity to play one at the at guitar center hollywood hours that is so well known at our local mall. I have been a real good girl this year, I wonder if Santa will bring me one and put it under the Christmas tree for me to find on Christmas morning.
