When my children are home we enjoy either reading books together or nestling down and watching good shows on our satellite television. This is a great way for us to relax together and to spend some quality time. One of our favorite books to read together is The Boxcar Children by Gertrude Chandler Warner. This book is great for children over the ages of six years old.
The Boxcar Children is one of our favorite books due to the close family ties shared between the young, elementary-aged children. The book follows the kids as they believe they are going to be separated because their parents have died. The children make a decision to run away. The find an abandoned train boxcar and take up residence in the car.
During the course of the book, the older brother goes to work for a local rich man, who is their long, lost uncle. The young boy and the man are not aware they are related. The children find small dishes and tin cups in trash piles and take great care cleaning these items and use them in the boxcar to eat food and to drink with.
Though their adventure is a fun one, the children miss living in a home together with the security of family. Near the end of the book, the children are discovered and are given a secure home by their rich uncle.
The evening news is constantly feeding us such bad and negative images and stories that a lot of people won’t even watch the news these news. This isn’t the easiest thing to do considering that there is always some type of news show on the TV, the radio, your Blackberry, the newspapers and of course all over the Internet. If you want news there is no reason why you can’t find it and quick like.
With so many of us on our computers as much as we are, we are bombarded with advertising and hazards. We are a very vulnerable computer society that the “bad guys” are always at least one step ahead of us no matter what we do. I’ve heard people say that they think the computer companies are the ones putting out the viruses in order to make money on the millions of dollars that it takes for preventing and/or fixing a virus, doesn’t that sound like something you would hear on the evening news.

Today the local fire department had their boots out collecting money in order to buy much needed newer and better equipment. Usually we only see them when they are doing their “Fill The Boot” fundraising push for the kids, but times are tough and with the economy still completely out of control, the need for things like a new fire hose, helmets and other necessary items that these guys really need and depend on is getting greater and greater. I don’t mind pushing some cash their way when ever I see them out there asking for our support.
A close co worker of mine just received some devastating news about her brother. He has been experiencing some of the Multiple Sclerosis Symptoms that most of us are aware of but apparently he wasn’t aware of and has just been dealing with it for over a year now. He was finally convinced to see his doctor and he does have Multiple Sclerosis.
Since knowledge is power and the Internet is over flowing with information about most health issues she is researching all that she can find for the most recent Multiple Sclerosis News in order to learn what she can in order to help out her brother with his recent diagnosis. Some of us at work are looking around as well and trying to do what we can in her and her family’s time of need.
As with most health issues, exercise and diet play a key role in managing the illness so that is a good starting point. And she is all over him with that information.
Even after viewing the DVD’s of the two boys during their junior high school wrestling matches that my kid sister sent her an jerk of an ex husband, the jerk claims still see that there is no way in the world that my two nephews couldn’t be his. Any fool could take on look at either one of them and see for a fact that these guys look just like mini version of the creep. So now it looks like my kid sis will be shopping for paternity tests to purchase just to get this guy to shut up as well as put up. I know that her feelings are hurt, but some things just work out in the end and hopefully everyone will be better off because all of it and it will all be over and done with once in for all.
