I once had a friend tell me what she believes is the best way to remove a tick. This is great, because it works in those places where it’s some times difficult to get to with tweezers: between toes, in the middle of a head full of dark hair, etc. Apply a glob of liquid soap to a cotton ball. Cover the tick with the soap-soaked cotton ball and swab it for a few
seconds (15-20), the tick will come out on its own and be stuck to the cotton ball when you lift it away.
This technique has worked every time I’ve used it (and that was frequently), and it’s much less traumatic and easier for me. Unless someone is allergic to soap, I can’t see that this would be damaging in any way.
My sister recently told me that she had read some where that if you use 100% white distilled vinegar in place of your liquid fabric softener that it does the same thing as what the costly liquid softeners do, and at a much lower cost. I know it works because I gave it a try at her house, but I have tried it a few times here at my home and for some crazy reason it isn’t giving my clothes the same effect, what’s up with that?
Long story short, my car was towed to the darned garage this am, $60 just like that, badda boom, badda bing, and the mechanic won’t even be able to look at the darn thing until Monday. I was informed that it doesn’t look good and that my car would most likely be out of commission for several days and I’m sure to the tune of some major bucks! This really bites!
With the holiday weekend right around the bend, I need and want my car on the road and running!
Today I took my car in for it’s much needed oil change and just as always, they found a few other issues that need tending to, and I walked away paying over close to $400 and the need to schedule an appointment next week, to bring it back in once the rest of the parts have come in, sigh…..
Today I am cooking four nice pork chops (boneless & lean) along with 2 cans of candid yams and a couple sliced apples with a sprinkle of cinnamon and a bit of brown sugar in my crock pot. I’m browning the pork chops as I type in the oven before putting them in the crock pot, I like that texture much better and I’m always concerned that I’m going to serve someone an under cooked piece of chicken or pork, so I tend to over cook them both, but the family still enjoys them all, along with me. The house is going to smell great!
